How was your Thanksgiving?
I stayed in a hotel, watched movies and TV, and played my Dreamcast projected on the hotel room's ceiling. It was pretty awesome, if I do say so.
The Fantastic Mr. Fox.
Although lacking in spectacular visual amazement, the dialogue in Mr. Fox is awkward, humorous, and perfect. It provides a wonderful enjoyment for nearly all ages. Though, the advertisements say that it is the best animated film of the year. I wouldn't go so far as to say that, seeing as Ponyo and Up came out this year as well. But in comparing the three movies...I'd say that we have our three candidates for the best animated feature at the Oscars this year. Grade: A
A Christmas Carol.
I admire retellings when they manage to make an old story seem new to me. Unfortunately, this retelling didn't quite manage to do so. It was still enjoyable, yet it still managed to bore me to death at some points. I must have checked my phone for the time at least ten times. The animation was astounding, though. Truly jaw-dropping. I loved how they made the characters kind of look like the actor that was doing their voice. It was a nice added touch. Grade: B-
2012.
Although geologically incorrect on many, many, many counts, this movie almost seems plausable. Maybe it's because the special effects are so amazing. I do wish that they would have focused on the family a little more, because, in disaster and horror movies, I like it when they give things more of a civillian's standpoint on things than the government's. And in 2012, I felt that they gave the government too much attention. Whatever, I still thought that the Earth's crust falling apart looked pretty damn cool. Grade: B+
